A question for today, 2016 & the rest of your life...

I’m late off the mark for a general New Year summary/overview/forward look post. This is mostly because I find I write the same thing every year: Resolutions are a bit funny to me because anything worth changing is worth changing regardless of the timing.

From there I go into: Goals are better and making them on an annual basis is just an easy way to keep track.

All very well and good and to be honest, a hundred articles have already been written on making resolutions that work, goals that are realistic and how to achieve all of ‘em.

So I’m not going to write any of those things.

2016 is here and just like anything in your life, it will be what you make of it. Months, years, days – time in general - is arbitrary. All we can know is we don’t know how much time we each get. With that in mind, ask yourself what’s the most important thing?

As I ask myself this again and again the responses I have become refined. In fact, there are only two now – although an abundance of details and different approaches in both: Practice and love.

Practice: cultivate awareness, increase flexibility, become more and more open to life. Let go of idea, expectations, ego clinging.

And love: Love wholeheartedly, genuinely, with great appreciation - People, animals, life, the Universe and everything.

We are always in transition.

Change is constant.

Happiness is a state of mind.

Whatever your resolutions, goal or plans for 2016, in everything you do, ask: What is the most important thing?

Best wishes to you. May your year be full of abundant joy, love and grace and may you enjoy boss-level snuggling.
