Compassion is a huge topic of study and practice in my life. I find, the more I implement it—the more I live it—the more it counter-acts my ego.
When we cultivate genuine compassion, we begin to see our petty wants as insignificant in the face of greater human suffering. The ego tries to convince us that we are more important than someone else, that our suffering makes us special, and that looking out for number one is the only way to ensure safety and comfort.Compassion dismantles all of that because compassion comes from a place of interconnectedness.
