The Hierophant represents self-knowledge, wisdom and openness. Often seen as a card that represents tradition, it’s important to know that whilst some traditions hold great power and wisdom, others can be harmful and must be let go.
I have come to identify with this card very strongly when prior to painting it I actually saw it as one of the least interesting. The Hierophant is a wise man, a bringer of truths. I painted it with the strongest Buddhist symbolism, including mala beads and the Ox which is common in the Asian landscapes of countries where Buddhism is practiced by most of the population.
